The Church of St James, Chipping Campden taken by A. F. Kersting, from the book A History of Chipping Campden by Christopher Whitfield - published 1958

Church of St. James, 15th century brass falcon lecturn of Flemish origin, the great vellum books of the Gospel text were often bound in oak boards, covered with silver-gilt plates, enriched with jewels and enamel; they became too heavy for the sub-deacon to hold against his forehead while the deacon sand, and these stands were provided.

Janet Booth, I am researching the
HIRON family (my maiden name is HIRON) and have traced the family as far back as John Franklin HIRON living in Blockley in 1851 (the census of that year shows him there).Ê John Franklin was my great great grandfather.Ê I have discovered links to the FRANKLIN and HICKMAN families through family names.Ê John Franklin's father was called Samuel and I have not discovered any more at present. John Franklin HIRON had amongst his children 2 sons, one Samuel and one Russell (my great grandfather).Ê They were on the Chipping Campden census of 1861.Ê Samuel married a Mary BOWYER at Marston Montgomery Derbyshire in 1873 and had a son Samuel.Ê Russell married Mary's younger sister Catherine Sarah also at Marston Montgomery on 19th January 1880 in Marston Montgomery church.Ê They had 3 children Henry Bowyer HICKMAN (my grandfather), Lilian and Ida.Ê Russell and Samuel both appeared on the 1881 census at the Bowyer farm in Marston Montgomery and Russell and his wife Catherine were in the 1891 census together with Lilian and Ida but were now living at 18 Windmill Hill Lane, Derby.

Tim S. Dupy, I am trying to make connections with William
WARNER of Blockley, son of John WARNER, and Thomas MOSLEY as well as the PERRIN surname in Chipping Camden, I believe.Ê My goal is to make the connection between the English KITE/KEYTE families and the American ones, though I believe James KITE and Mary WARNER, Quakers at Blockley in Phildaelphia County, Pennsylvania.Ê

Alan Clayton.
Researching my great uncle, Joseph
CLAYTON (b Clerkenwell 1868 Ð d Chipping Campden Gloucestershire 1943). Joseph was a journalist/author and was the owner of The Spectator 1906-7. He was also active in the Suffragette movement, wrote a number of books and edited The Labour Chronicles 1896 - 1898. I understand that he moved to Chipping Campden with his wife Margaret (nee SOUTER) in approx 1937. His obituary is recorded in The Times, Nov22, 1943. I would welcome any information about Joseph and his family (I do not know whether there were any children from the marriage). I am particularly searching for a photograph of Joseph as IÕm unable to confirm his identity in the only family photograph I have of the marriage of his brother Rolf.
