Abstract of the Will of George Buttler 19th July 1814.

Will of GEORGE BUTTLER of the Parish of Morton in Marsh in the County of Gloucester Labourer whereby he FIRST devised unto his son THOMAS BUTTLER 2 Brick fronted Freehold Cotages then in the occupation of JOSEPH WALKER and SAMUEL SMITH and three new builded Leasehold Cotage houses called the Back Ends then in the occupation of WILLIAM DODD, RICHARD HINE and ABRAHAM KEELEY all of which were to be possessed by him after the death of his Executor thereinafter mentioned
SECONDLY devised unto his daughter SARAH COOPER the wife of ROBERT COOPER of M-M aforesaid Cordwainer four Leasehold Cotages then in the occupation of SARAH COOPER, Widdow, himself GEORGE BUTTLER, JOSEPH BARTLETT and HANNAH KNOT all to be possessed by her after the death of his Executor
Appointing EDWARD CARLESS of M-M and ROBERT COOPER aforesaid as Trustees for and until the death of his Executor thereinafter mentioned
LASTLY he gave unto his wife ESTHER whom he made sole Executrix thereof All of his lands messuages and tenements thereinbefore mentioned for her natural life
SIGNED by GEORGE BUTTLER the 15th January 1814 by making his mark in the presence of witnesses HANNAH CARLISS, SAMUEL SMITH and NICHOLAS WIGGETT

N.B. He refers to his daughter Sarah as being (1) the wife of Robert COOPER, then (2) Widdow, unless the second Sarah COOPER was another person. Robert's mother was Elizabeth, not Sarah. Robert COOPER in fact was buried on 31st October 1815 at M-M. Sarah remarried on the 8th January 1824, to Richard FIFIELD, from which marriage there were 7 children.
