Will of 1784 Charles LUCAS of Chedworth
In the name of God amen I Charles LUCAS of Chedworth in the County of Gloucester Yeoman being of perfect mind and memory make this my last will and testament in the manner and form following imprimis I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Catherine LUCAS all that house barn and ground with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging that I lately purchased of Francis TAYLER with all the goods I lately brought there during her natural life and after her decease I give all the above said house barn and ground with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto my kinswomen Mary BROAD the daughter of the late Joseph BROAD to her and heirs forever with all the goods I lately brought to the said house but if said Mary BROAD should survive my wife Catherine LUCAS nor having any heir of her own body then I give the above said house barn and ground with all the appurtenances to my kinsmen Thomas BROAD the son of the late Joseph BROAD to him and his heirs for ever Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary BAILEY all that house her now live in with the malthouse and bakehouse I lately purchased of John TURK with all the appurtenances during her natural life I also give to my daughter Mary BAILEY all that ground with the barn and all the appurtenances thereunto belonging that I lately purchased of Benjamin SLEY during her natural life and after her decease I give the said house her now live in with the malthouse and bakehouse I lately purchased of John TURK with all appurtenances thereunto belonging to my kinsmen Thomas BROAD aforesaid to him and his heirs forever I also give after the decease of my daughter Mary BAILEY unto my kinsman Thomas BROAD aforesaid all that ground with the barn with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging I lately purchased of Benjamin SLEY to him and his heirs forever all the above premises are situate in the said parish of Chedworth aforesaid the residue and remainder of my estate lands tenements hereditaments with arrears of rent and other properties of what kind so ever to me appertaining I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Mary BAILEY whom I constitute and appoint the whole and sole executrix of this my last will and testament and I do hereby utterly revoke disallow and disannul all former bequests wills and legacies by me heretofore in any wise left or made declaring ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this is the nineteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four
