Note by M. Tovey
Richard ELTOME died on the same day as the will was written - 20 November 1856.
On 5 March 1857 his widow Ann was given probate and it was sworn to be under £100 in value.
ELTOME families were Blacksmiths in Chedworth throughout the Victorian period.

In 1843 Richard ELTOME owned:
340 House & garden occupied by himself
341 Home Ground Orchard
341A Orchard
342 Hobbies Ground
642 Broads Ground
643 Daniels Ground

From the 1851 census it would appear that all three of the properties that he owned that are mentioned in the above will were close together in the Foss Bridge area.

Above will donated by Michael Tovey transcribed for a couple of local history classes that he ran last year (2000).
