Note at rear of book dated September 29th 1856
Richard Rogers agrees verbally to take his cottage and garden for 7 days to pay 1s for the 7 days that being 7_ for rent and 4_ towards the arrears. If he ceases to pay the one shilling per week he understands he is giving up posession without further notice.
This done in the presence of Daniel Sly, John Peachey & Wm Ellis.

Notes by M. Tovey
The majority of the tenants appear to have been in arrears of rent a lot of the time.
Six of the eight cottages administered for the "Chedworth Poor" were buried under the railway in the early 1890s. The cottages are listed as 434 (James Stephens and Richard Rogers among the tennants) and 435 (Thomas Gardner one of two tennants) in the 1843 Tithe Map listing.
The were 12d (pennies) in a shilling and 20s (shillings) in a pound
